This 1 hour clinic will cover body positioning and run mechanics so you can maximize your run potential. Don’t keep running harder, learn how to run smarter.

  • Have you heard the phrase, “run tall” but don’t exactly know what it means?
  • Do you ever wonder why you’re told to do warm-up drills like high knees, butt kicks, and skipping?
  • Do you see pictures of yourself in races and workouts and not like the form you see?
  • Are you plagued with nagging injuries and you know it’s related to running?
  • You know that improving your form will help performance, but you don’t know where to start?

Believe it or not, running is a skill sport. It requires skill to move your body forward efficiently. You can’t power your way through miles upon miles with inefficient form and hope to get faster with lasting results. In this 1 hour clinic you will learn how to get your body in the most efficient position, as well as learn common mistakes with run form so you can avoid them. 

Note: you won’t run more than a mile in this clinic, it’s mostly drill work, so in shape or out of shape, come and learn a lot! Clinic can be scaled to accommodate everyone. 

Open to anyone to join! This clinic is for novice and experienced runners.

Swim Skills Clinic: Rotation

Join Alamo 180 for a swim skills clinic! Topic: Rotation

In this one hour clinic you will learn drills that will help you work on horizontal body positioning as well as to improve your torso/hip rotation. Positioning and rotation are key to an efficient freestyle. The drills you will learn are game changer! This is an in-water clinic, so expect to be swimming!

*Learn why rotation is so important in freestyle and how to do it effectively.

*Learn how to get better and more efficient at rotating.

*Learn how proper rotation can help propel you forward.

This 1 hour clinic will cover what cadence is and how it correlates to improved run performance. If you’re wanting to get faster and more efficient in running, don’t neglect the importance of cadence. In addition to cadence, we will work on body positioning and run mechanics. This is a jammed packed clinic! 

Believe it or not, running is a skill sport. It requires skill to move your body forward efficiently. You can’t power your way through miles upon miles with inefficient form and hope to get faster with lasting results. This clinic will teach you how to get your body in the most efficient position AND how to learn the right cadence for you so you can maximize your run potential. 

Note: Expect to run about a mile in this clinic, it’s mostly drill work, so in shape or out of shape, come and learn a lot!

Swim Skills Clinic: Breathe & Not Sink

San Antonio College Pool

Do you find that you sink every time you take a breath? In this one hour clinic, learn how your arm positioning and underwater pull plays a key role in either keeping you afloat or submerged.

The drills covered in the clinic will work on timing of the underwater pull, as well as arm and body positioning. You will learn drills that will improve your stability in the water. These drills are game changer!

“My journey at Alamo 180 started in September 2016.

I came to the gym overweight, feeling physically and mentally broken down. For most of a decade I had put a lot of effort into getting fit with little to show for it. In fact, despite working out 5 days a week I allowed myself to gain 40 pounds.

Leaving a program that was no longer working for me was very difficult but I needed a new start. At first I thought my decision to join Alamo 180 was a huge mistake because I just wasn’t ready for the intensity of the workouts. Sure I was comfortable lifting weights but the cardiovascular and metabolic aspects of the workouts were a different story. I hated them. Especially the running.

Slowly over the next several months I managed to lose 10 pounds without really trying. The workouts were just that effective. Even my running started to improve, mostly because of the Murph Challenge. Completing it was something I was really proud of. A couple of weeks later I decided I needed to take control of my nutrition. I sought out a nutrition coach with Stronger U Nutrition, and coupled with sound workout programming, I started to lose weight. Seriously. Everything started to change.

I’m getting close to being down 50 pounds since joining Alamo 180. Being in a better place physically and mentally has allowed my workouts to really improve—especially the running. I’ve been able to increase my distances from a couple of miles to nearly 6 miles.

I’m happy at A180. I’ve finally found the health and fitness I so desperately wanted.”
