Beginner Triathlon Programs

Alamo 180 has TWO triathlon programs designed just for beginners: Beginner Triathlon Series & Rookie to Race. No prior triathlon experience necessary!

Athletes will enjoy training in a team environment alongside other beginners while learning everything about how to successfully complete a triathlon! If you’ve been wanting to train and complete your first triathlon, NOW is the time! Meet other beginners, build friendships, and start your exciting triathlon journey!


Beginner Triathlon Series a 4-week program designed to provide a solid foundation for triathlon training and racing. We will cover the basics of swimming, cycling, and running, and help you build endurance in all three disciplines.

Rookie to Race is a beginner training program designed to train athletes up to a specific triathlon race.

About Each Program:

Swim, bike and run group workouts per week and several clinics throughout the program. Each Beginner Triathlon Program will be separate from the current year-round training group and have it’s own coach – Coach Crystal!

Week Schedule:

Program specific start dates for both Beginner Programs. Tuesday – Thursday group workouts will take place at 6:30pm. Locations will vary between the Alamo 180 studio and the surrounding neighborhoods. Saturday workouts will take place at 8:00am at alternating locations.

All program participants will receive access to the training plan calendar. Access to the calendar will be covered on the first day of the program.

Minimum eligibility requirements:

For the Beginner Triathlon Programs, athletes must have their own bicycle and helmet. Other required equipment needs for training and race day will be discussed during the program. Athletes must have water confidence and be able to swim 1 length of the pool (any form of forward motion), be able to run/jog/walk one mile, and ride a bike at least 3 miles (at any speed).
