Why I CrossFit: I CrossFit for a variety of reasons. I can’t pick just one. The noticeable strength, skill, cardio and
overall fitness gains that I have been able to measure, feel and see in my body are why I keep at it. Regular CF training has translated to a better bike and run, which is a huge plus in my book. I like the emphasis on function, proper technique in lifting and approachable scaling options. I also enjoy the daily challenge (I’ll remember I said this) and all the awesome people I get to sweat with!
My favorite and least favorite workout: Currently, I’m down for any WOD with double unders, because it’s such a fun skill and I like to get in as much practice as possible. I can’t say I have a least favorite, but any “death by” WOD
seems to activate my “fight or flight” response (yes, I’m dramatic), however I did say I like the challenge, so I get what I’m looking for with these workouts. My most challenging workouts usually involve what I am not good at. I do know when I see squat cleans/ snatches in a WOD it elicits a deep breath from me because they are technically challenging and they hurt!
Favorite lift: This is new for me, but I do like front squats. I am getting stronger and I see how my strength gains in front squats will assist with my proficiency in other lifts/ movements.
Favorite cheat meal: I don’t cheat, I TREAT! If you know me, you know it involves cheese! I love a good artisan cheese…washed rind, cheddar, blue, gouda, aged, goat…and the list goes on. I love it with a crusty bread, on burgers, a cheese sauce, cheese boards…. You get the point! Oh, and chips and salsa is always a TREAT win!
What I like most about coaching CrossFit: I love coaching and being a part of an athlete’s fitness journey and accomplishments, it’s one of my favorite things – EVER. I have instructed various formats over the years and Cross Fit has probably taught me the most in a short period of time, and continues to grow and educate me on a daily basis. I learned Cross Fit is more than just a workout, it’s about a living a healthy lifestyle. It’s so much fun to be a part of such a supportive community. I look forward to learning, educating and sharing my CF experiences with all the awesome athletes I have the honor of working with.
